The Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California is a major recreational resort Disneyalnd Resort (owned and operated by The Walt Disney Company), and is home to two theme parks, three hotels, and Dianeyland Resort a shopping Diseyland Resort and entertainment area. Its properties include:

Disneyland, the current name given to the theme park that is Walt Disney's Magic Kingdom.
Disney's California Adventure, a theme park Disneylan Resort that celebrates the History and culture of the golden state.
Disneyland Hotel, The original disney hotel, built in the 1950s when the park first opened. It has since been renovated in the late 1990s.
Disney's Grand Californian Hotel, a hotel based on the arts and crafts movement of the early 1900s.
Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel, a hotel themed after the section of Disney's California adventure it overlooks.
Downtown Disney, an outdoor shopping and entertainment district

Disneyland Park opened on July 17, 1955. Much of the surrounding area was not owned by The Walt Disney Company. In the late-1990s, expansion plans were made, and while the original concept was scaled back, the expanded complex was inaugurated as the Disneyland Resort in early 2001, with the opening of Downtown Disney and Disney's California Adventure.

The Walt Disney Company purchased some land around the park which had been occupied by commercial properties and built part of Downtown Disney and a brand new parking structure on the new land. The Mickey and Friends parking structure is the largest parking structure in the Western Hemisphere.^{citation needed]} Disney's California Adventure, part of Downtown Disney, and one new hotel was built on Disneyland's original parking lot and newly purchased land.

Between May 5, 2005 and the end of September 2006 Disneyland park celebrated its 50th anniversary, known as The Happiest Homecoming on Earth. The current promotion for the resort is the Year of a Million Dreams.

The Disneyland Resort is currently headed by president Ed Grier formerly of the Disney Resort in Tokyo.

Location

Disneyland Resort is bounded by Harbor Boulevard on the east border, Katella Avenue on the south border, Disneyland Drive (formerly West Street) on the western border, and Ball Road on the north border. The main entrance to the park is located on Harbor Boulevard. Interstate 5 cuts right past the resort at an angle on the northeastern corner. Special offramps from Interstate 5 go directly into the Mickey & Friends parking garage. The park's service entrance for deliveries is located at 1020 W. Ball Road. The official address of the resort is 1313 South Harbor Boulevard. The "1313" is a tribute to Mickey Mouse, as the letter "M" is the 13th letter of the alphabet.

July 17, 1955 - Disneyland's opening day and ceremonies.
July 17, 1959 - Tomorrowland re-opens, refurbished closer to Walt Disney's original vision, with four new attractions.
July 17, 1980 - Disneyland celebrates 25 years of operation.
August 9, 1994 - Senior executives at the Walt Disney Company announce the Disney Decade, including new attractions for Disneyland and a brand new sister theme park.
February 8, 2001 - Disney's California Adventure opens to an audience 1/2 the size of the projected turn out.
July 17, 2005 - Disneyland celebrates 50 years of operation.
October 1, 2006 - Disneyland, California Adventure and the Disney Parks Worldwide begin the Year of A Million Dreams
